Roger Maller took his first art lesson in painting in 1971.  He painted in oil then acrylic and finally found watercolor which is his favorite.  He is a self-taught artist through research and taking many workshops taught by nationally known artists, including Tom Talbot, Rose Edin, Ken Hosmer, Herb Thompson, Jim Hamil, Charles Rogers, Dick Phillips and Frank Franchese.  He paints in watercolor for his flat work and in acrylic for his painted eggs which have become quite famous.

He is a retired Pharmacist and has been able to do much more painting since his retirement.  He also is able to travel a lot and paints wherever he goes.  His paintings are a travelogue.  Since his retirement, he spends his summer in Oakland, NE and his winter in Tucson, AZ.  He has won many awards for his watercolors.  He loves colorwhich is evident in his paintings.  He enjoys conducting  workshops and giving demonstrations.  His paintings appear in 42 states and 8 foreign countries.

He paints on acrylic and real eggs, such as chicken eggs.  His painted egg of a nostalgic Nebraska farm scene was entered into a competition in Nebraska, which he won. The egg was sent to the White House in Washington D.C.  He was invited to attend a special showing of the winning eggs by President and Mrs. George W.
